Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured their place in the UEFA Champions League next season by defeating Lyon 3-1 in round three of Ligue 1 on Sunday night.
The victory was PSG's third in a row and saw them extend their lead at the top of the table to 10 points, leaving them well and truly in control of the title race.
The match was played at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris, where PSG have won all six of their home matches this season.
In the first half, Lyon struggled to create any meaningful chances, with PSG dominating possession and creating numerous opportunities for themselves.
However, it was PSG who eventually broke the deadlock in the 66th minute when Neymar scored his 48th goal of the season from close range.
Lyon responded immediately in the 75th minute when they equalised through a header from Rudi Vidal, but PSG regained the lead just five minutes later when Mauro Icardi scored his 19th goal of the season from a corner.
The final goal came in the 88th minute when Icardi finished off a brilliant move involving Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi, before adding another two minutes later as PSG wrapped up the win.
This result sees PSG clinch the league title with just one game remaining, and ensures that they will be competing in Europe's premier club competition next season.
For PSG, it is a fantastic achievement after a difficult start to the season, which saw them struggle for form and form throughout the majority of the campaign.
But the team has shown incredible resilience and determination, and the win against Lyon is a testament to their hard work and dedication.
With the league title now secured, PSG can focus on securing a spot in the UEFA Champions League, and continue to build towards a successful end to the season.
