In recent weeks, Girona has been on an excellent away performance, winning three games and drawing two against top opposition teams. The team is currently sitting in fifth place in the La Liga table, just four points behind leaders Real Madrid.
The first game of their current run was against Real Sociedad at San Mames Stadium. Despite being down to ten men for most of the match, Girona managed to secure a draw thanks to goals from both Luis Suárez and Carlos Soler. The second game was against Athletic Bilbao at the Estadio El Sadar. Girona took control of the match early on and went into halftime with a 1-0 lead, before securing a hard-fought 2-1 win with a late goal from Pablo Hernández.
The third game was against Barcelona at Camp Nou. Despite conceding a late equalizer, Girona fought back to level the scoreline and then go on to win the match 4-2 thanks to goals from Carlos Soler, Juanmi, and Riki. This victory means that Girona has now won all three of their away matches this season, while also keeping clean sheets in each of those matches.
Overall, Girona's away form has been outstanding so far this season, and it looks like they could be one of the surprise packages in La Liga. With some solid performances at home, as well as their strong away record, there is certainly potential for them to push for a top-four finish. It will be interesting to see how they continue to perform throughout the rest of the season.
